href=\"https:\/\/saint-georges-sur-loire-patrimoine.fr\/index.php\/2024\/05\/24\/complexe-abbatial\/\">abbaye<\/a><\/span> est construite en 1150.<br \/>D\u2019apr\u00e8s Barth\u00e9l\u00e9my Roger (1659) tout le pays de Saint-Georges appartenait au seigneur du Plessis Mac\u00e9. <br \/>Vers 1150, Rainaud II le Roux (1125-1165) seigneur du Plessis fit construire l\u2019abbaye de Saint-Georges. Il y fit venir des religieux de l\u2019abbaye prestigieuse de la Ro\u00eb, en Mayenne, d\u2019o\u00f9 \u00e9tait parti, un demi-si\u00e8cle auparavant, Robert d\u2019Arbrissel, fondateur de l\u2019Abbaye de Fontevrault. Cinq seigneurs du Plessis y ont \u00e9t\u00e9 inhum\u00e9s.<br \/>En 1180, Raoul de Beaumont, \u00e9v\u00eaque d\u2019Angers, et cousin du comte d\u2019Anjou roi d\u2019Angleterre, le puissant Henri II Plantagen\u00eat consacra l\u2019abbaye.\u00a0<\/p><p>La premi\u00e8re \u00e9glise \u00e0 l\u2019emplacement actuel daterait seulement de la fin du XIe si\u00e8cle. Tous les textes assurent qu\u2019en 1150, une petite \u00e9glise, desservie par un certain cur\u00e9 Herbert, abritait les offices religieux. C\u2019\u00e9tait la premi\u00e8re chapelle de cet ensemble conventuel, qui avait utilis\u00e9 un lieu de culte datant au moins du Xe si\u00e8cle voire du VI\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. La belle charpente en coque de bateau fut pos\u00e9e plus tardivement entre 1275 et 1284.<br \/>L\u2019\u00e9glise et le r\u00e9fectoire sont les seuls b\u00e2timents dont l\u2019existence est \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s attest\u00e9e d\u00e8s le XIIe-XIIIe si\u00e8cle.<\/p><p>En 1208, Saint-Georges vit la cr\u00e9ation sur la rive haute de la Loire, du <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/saint-georges-sur-loire-patrimoine.fr\/index.php\/2024\/05\/23\/le-prieure-de-lepinay\/\">Prieur\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00c9pinay<\/a><\/span>, d\u00e9pendant de l\u2019abbaye saint-georgeoise, ainsi que la construction de 3 grands ch\u00e2teaux : le <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/saint-georges-sur-loire-patrimoine.fr\/index.php\/2024\/05\/24\/le-chateau-de-serrant\/\">manoir de Serrant<\/a><\/span>, le <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/saint-georges-sur-loire-patrimoine.fr\/index.php\/2024\/05\/23\/le-chateau-de-lepinay\/\">Ch\u00e2teau de l\u2019\u00c9pinay<\/a> <\/span>et le <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/saint-georges-sur-loire-patrimoine.fr\/index.php\/2024\/05\/24\/le-chateau-de-chevigne\/\">Ch\u00e2teau de Chevign\u00e9<\/a><\/span>, qui d\u00e9pendaient du Plessis Mac\u00e9.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ba50297 e-con-full e-flex wpr-particle-no wpr-jarallax-no wpr-parallax-no wpr-sticky-section-no wpr-equal-height-no e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"ba50297\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_ha_eqh_enable&quot;:false}\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e789f3b e-con-full e-flex wpr-particle-no wpr-jarallax-no wpr-parallax-no wpr-sticky-section-no wpr-equal-height-no e-con e-child\" data-id=\"e789f3b\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_ha_eqh_enable&quot;:false}\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-34f209a exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"34f209a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"Textbody\">Alors qu\u2019une terrible \u00e9pid\u00e9mie de peste frappait l\u2019Europe et l\u2019Anjou, l\u2019abbaye re\u00e7ut en don les prieur\u00e9s de Chaz\u00e9 sur Argos et du Jaunay en Anjou.<\/p><p class=\"Textbody\">Il est probable que l\u2019abbaye a continu\u00e9 \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9tendre et \u00e0 s\u2019agrandir durant la fin du XIIIe et la premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9 du XIVe. Son d\u00e9veloppement profita certainement de la paix, assur\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, par les ducs d\u2019Anjou, puis par la dynastie Plantagen\u00eat. La rivalit\u00e9 entre ces derniers et le roi de France explosera en 1337 d\u00e9but de la guerre de Cent Ans.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div premi\u00e8re Abbaye 1001-1400 Centre Moyen-Age La charpente du r\u00e9fectoire des moines La premi\u00e8re abbaye est construite en 1150.D\u2019apr\u00e8s Barth\u00e9l\u00e9my Roger (1659) tout le pays de Saint-Georges appartenait au seigneur du Plessis Mac\u00e9. Vers 1150, Rainaud II le Roux (1125-1165) seigneur du Plessis fit construire l\u2019abbaye de Saint-Georges. Il y fit venir des religieux de l\u2019abbaye prestigieuse de la Ro\u00eb, en Mayenne, d\u2019o\u00f9 \u00e9tait parti, un demi-si\u00e8cle auparavant, Robert d\u2019Arbrissel, fondateur de l\u2019Abbaye de Fontevrault. Cinq seigneurs du Plessis y ont \u00e9t\u00e9 inhum\u00e9s.En 1180, Raoul de Beaumont, \u00e9v\u00eaque d\u2019Angers, et cousin du comte d\u2019Anjou roi d\u2019Angleterre, le puissant Henri II Plantagen\u00eat consacra l\u2019abbaye.\u00a0 La premi\u00e8re \u00e9glise \u00e0 l\u2019emplacement actuel daterait seulement de la fin du XIe si\u00e8cle. Tous les textes assurent qu\u2019en 1150, une petite \u00e9glise, desservie par un certain cur\u00e9 Herbert, abritait les offices religieux. Le plan de l\u2019ancienne \u00e9glise laisse supposer que la nef fut construite en deux fois. Vestiges de la fresque des Vieillards de l&rsquo;Apocalypse dans le r\u00e9fectoire des moines Les moines, des chanoines r\u00e9guliers au nombre de sept, ob\u00e9issaient \u00e0 la r\u00e8gle de Saint-Augustin, leur imposant une vie en commun et des devoirs d\u2019assistance et d\u2019\u00e9ducation aupr\u00e8s des fid\u00e8les. De la premi\u00e8re abbaye, ne reste que le b\u00e2timent appel\u00e9 \u00ab r\u00e9fectoire des moines \u00bb. C\u2019\u00e9tait la premi\u00e8re chapelle de cet ensemble conventuel, qui avait utilis\u00e9 un lieu de culte datant au moins du Xe si\u00e8cle voire du VI\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. La belle charpente en coque de bateau fut pos\u00e9e plus tardivement entre 1275 et 1284.L\u2019\u00e9glise et le r\u00e9fectoire sont les seuls b\u00e2timents dont l\u2019existence est \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s attest\u00e9e d\u00e8s le XIIe-XIIIe si\u00e8cle. En 1208, Saint-Georges vit la cr\u00e9ation sur la rive haute de la Loire, du Prieur\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00c9pinay, d\u00e9pendant de l\u2019abbaye saint-georgeoise, ainsi que la construction de 3 grands ch\u00e2teaux : le manoir de Serrant, le Ch\u00e2teau de l\u2019\u00c9pinay et le Ch\u00e2teau de Chevign\u00e9, qui d\u00e9pendaient du Plessis Mac\u00e9. Alors qu\u2019une terrible \u00e9pid\u00e9mie de peste frappait l\u2019Europe et l\u2019Anjou, l\u2019abbaye re\u00e7ut en don les prieur\u00e9s de Chaz\u00e9 sur Argos et du Jaunay en Anjou. Il est probable que l\u2019abbaye a continu\u00e9 \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9tendre et \u00e0 s\u2019agrandir durant la fin du XIIIe et la premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9 du XIVe. Son d\u00e9veloppement profita certainement de la paix, assur\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, par les ducs d\u2019Anjou, puis par la dynastie Plantagen\u00eat. La rivalit\u00e9 entre ces derniers et le roi de France explosera en 1337 d\u00e9but de la guerre de Cent Ans.
