son maire, Bernard Guitton. La population grandit passant de 2000 \u00e0 2850 habitants. De nombreux lotissements sont construits.La population jusqu&rsquo;alors principalement en campagne se concentre dans le bourg. Le village rural se transforme progressivement en petite ville.<\/p><p>Pour accueillir ces nouveaux habitants, de nouveaux \u00e9quipements collectifs sont ouverts en particulier dans le domaine de l\u2019\u00e9ducation avec la construction des deux \u00e9coles et du coll\u00e8ge. La voirie, l\u2019\u00e9clairage public, le t\u00e9l\u00e9phone et l\u2019assainissement sont d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s dans tout le bourg.<\/p><p>Si le secteur agricole reste tr\u00e8s important, l\u2019industrie, le commerce et l\u2019artisanat se d\u00e9veloppent et deviennent principale source d\u2019emplois.<\/p><p>La r\u00e9novation de<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/saint-georges-sur-loire-patrimoine.fr\/index.php\/2024\/05\/24\/complexe-abbatial\/\"> l\u2019abbaye<\/a><\/span> d\u00e9bute\u00a0: l\u2019ancien h\u00f4tel de ville est d\u00e9truit, la mairie s\u2019installe dans la maison conventuelle et l\u2019on restaure les caveaux. Les abords de <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/saint-georges-sur-loire-patrimoine.fr\/index.php\/2024\/05\/24\/letang-darrouet\/\">l\u2019\u00e9tang d\u2019Arrou\u00ebt<\/a><\/span> sont am\u00e9nag\u00e9s.<\/p><p>La vie culturelle et sportive est en pleine expansion\u00a0: les clubs sportifs se d\u00e9veloppent, le Gymnase ouvre ses portes et un nouveau terrain de foot est inaugur\u00e9. De nombreuses expositions et des concerts sont organis\u00e9s notamment dans les salles r\u00e9nov\u00e9es de l\u2019abbaye.<\/p><p>C\u2019est finalement le Saint Georges d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui qui
